Diary of a writing project. Day 51: Revision dear

Word count goal for this week: 47 500 words
Word count today: 32 474 words

Early revision is one of my favorite thing to do… after writing the story in the first place.

It just fun!

I get to know the character’s better.
I’m able to describe with more accuracy, and less words, the action and the surroundings.
I’m building a stronger world by cutting the first info dumping splurge and give just enough info to make things relatable, clear, fun.

With this project, the word, the vibe, the mood for « fun » keeps coming back.

I know, I know, you should write the novel of your heart while keeping a eye on the market. That’s what I did before starting the project: make sure my book had a fair chance of being selected, because it was in-sync with what the market seemed to be aiming for at the moment (a market moment last less than 18 months, so I find the best strategy is to have half-dozen ideas brewing on the back-burner; just in case).

But right now, the market is… so… is so… predictable.

I want to read a novel that goes beyond the rules. Something mesmerizing. Something not depressing.
I wat to read… the novel I’m writing right now!

Good sign I guess, but will the publishers or the readers (I’m looking into self-publishing right now; it’s not pleasant, so. much. work. I am in complete WOW for authors who choose to self-publish) want to buy it.
Literaly.

With those considerations swirling around, I’ll go back to my early revision. It’s slow, but I’m enjoying myself.

At the end of the day, that’s the most important thing. Trust me on this one.

Until next time, dear writer friends…
