Diary of a writing project. Day 42: act two

Needless to say I’m looking forward to the writing sessions these days.

Word count goal this week: 40 000 words
Word count goal so far: 26 594 words

October is almost over.
It was uncommonly warm today for this time of year. Kiddo and I walked to the Water (it has another name, but since kiddo can’t remember it yet, we call it the Water) before supper.
It was utter bliss after spending most of my day cramped over the computer, reaching out for clients.

Diary of a writing project. Day 41: The outline has gone bye-bye, Egon

Some of the ideas I outlined, like the end, will remain similar for some character, but the climax and, most of all, the ending is heading in a whole, unexpected direction.
And that direction is: turns out I’m writing a stand alone!

Word count goal this week: 40 000 words.
Word count goal so far: 25 250 words

Nothing is left of that poor outline I work so hard on, except for Main Characters, SideKick, Love Interest, Ally, Antagonist.

What can I say, as I get to know more about the characters, as they develop, the story inevitably takes a new turn.
Many new turns in this case.

Some of the ideas I outlined, like the end, will remain similar for some character, but the climax and, most of all, the ending is heading in a whole, unexpected direction.

Diary of a writing project. Day 40: The art of clichés

In a scene, I got the love interest bump into the main character in a mall.
Literally.
Bump! Aouch! You!?

Word count goal for this week: 40 000 words
Word count so far: 23 175

In a scene, I got the love interest bump into the main character in a mall. Literally. Bump! Aouch! You!?

Agreed, the mall in question, a miserable looking old fashion place far from their hometown, is ( of course! ) the last place you could expect to see both of them.
I am embracing this cliché. It works.
But will the beta-readers, better yet the actual readers, will dig it?
