Diary of a writing project. Day 170: slow work in progress is still progress – two of fourteen

Woke up at 2 am. Why? Oh so many pandemic reasons…

Fortunately enough, I had an event to attend too.

A 4 am live write-in sprint time with Skye Dragon Mama, aka author S. D. Hegyes.

The magic behind writing with a group of people…

As often said on this writer blog, writing is a lonely business, and that’s one of the reasons why I love it so, so much.

Writing with a group of people though always puts some kind of good pressure on me.
I’m more motivated to really focus, which tremendously helps to get more words on the page.

Being part of a writing group is not mandatory, but from experience, I can say that my mental health has improved and that I feel more motivated towards working on writing projects since I started to join the write-in.
(If you’re interested, please check out Carrow Brown’s Live Stream Schedule on her channel).

But, a 4 am live-stream? Why? First, like all the other writers waking very early, starting by Paranormal Romance Author S. D. Hegyes.

  • Mama here needs quiet, and it’s usually calm and quiet in the dining room very early in the morning. So yeah!
  • It’s great to have a little me-time or self-care time, especially in these pandemic days that are forcing us to stay home, with our kids and spouse, all. the. time.
  • More words end ups on the page; I find myself to be more productive in the early morning, but then again, I’m used to waking up early, especially since kiddo was born.
  • Even before the whole pandemic, confinement, stay home, stay safe thing, I worked from home and I dedicated all my spare to write. Being isolated for too long is neither good for the soul or the writing. A writing group provides many windows to many worlds, social interactions and overall writing support.

When I changed my writing routine, slow progress is to be expected. And to counteract the slow progress, I go for the productivity tricks that work best for me.

Fellow writers, what kind of productivity tricks works for you? Let me know down below!

Thanks for reading. Until next time!
