Writing Adventures Day 12: When It’s Impossible to Fall Back Asleep

1:30 am.

Kiddo’s music box is blasting.
Hubby-to-be sleep machine sounds like a winter storm.

And I’m thinking I should erase the last 40 000 words of the novel I’ve been working on for two years.

Just because it makes sense, all of sudden, to get those characters together.

Let’s hope I’m not wrong on this and readers will like it.

Otherwise… I should have just tried to get back to sleep.

I shall talk about it in more detail when I get some sleep because right now, Grammarly is working so hard it’s nearly embarassing.

Until next time, may all the good words flow your way!

Writing Adventures Day 11: Fighting Off Creeping Day Job Stress (last day job post)

I always hated having a dream featuring my day job.

Dreams are meant to bring us elsewhere and to inspire us, humble writers of stories!

Granted, we may very well be inspired by our day job, the people we work with, the customers we meet.

However, being in a dream in which you’re doing what you did all day…

I kindly protest!

Fighting off day job stress is hard… especially if I keep writing about it instead of writing about something I love… like writing novels!

Therefore, here I solemnly declare to share about writing and reading, and some things that go in between.

Sooo… I better grab a book or start working on the writing project.
I’m not behind the writing goals… yet. Let’s keep it that way.

Until next time, may all the good words flow your way.

Writing Adventures Day 10: Writing& Reading Novels is a Life Saver

In at 11am.
Out at 6pm.

Sat only once.
I’ll let you figure out where.

Back home sweet home, drama over a beloved tv occurred.
Yesterday’s wonderfully sweet and heartwarming greeting became a memory.

Drained is about the best to describe how my heart, body and soul felt a few minutes ago while I kissed kiddo goodnight, hubby-to-be already back at work.

Then, I got comfy and opened the laptop. First thing I did was read the last paragraph I wrote before the sun rose.

Words. Words from my wanna-be novel on the page.
A tiny little bit of a story far away from the fun but still a bit mind-numbing day job I just started.

Novels, fellow writers.

Novels.

Close to nothing is better than writing or reading a novel.

It’s a lifesaver.
It’s
A way to dream, escape, discover and travel far away or understand better a reality close to yours, close to the human beings we mingle with every day without thinking twice about the vast majority of them.
It’s
A way to look at a different reality through a character or another author’s mind.
It’s
A way to connect to what it intrinsically means to be alive in this world filled with beauties and wonders and black-capped chickadees chirping around the tall blue spruce.

That’s why, for me, writing and reading is a lifesaver.

Thanks for writing your poems, your short stories, your blog posts, and your novels.
Many more thanks for sharing them.

I owe you laughter and wonder.
