It’s done, writer friends.
40 000 words done.
40 000 words and a bit more to go. May I humbly say : hooray !
I don’t know for you, but when I have a new writing project waiting in my writing horizon, suddenly, the first drafting of the current writing project goes very well.
To be honest, though, I’ve simply been able to dedicate more time to drafting the paranormal Teen writing project. I’ve also set new word count goals.
In order to not feel like a loser when I don’t reach the word count goals, I’ve set weekly « loose » word count goals for this project.
I have a minimum word count to reach, a word count I’m fairly certain I will be able to reach.
And an ultimate word count goal, involving a little treat such as buying a new novel, or getting a chocolate cake for the weekend. Or simply allowing myself to read all weekend long.
It’s got to be fun but also cheap!
Next milestones
This week is the first week of March. Snow should be starting to melt during the day, a little at least.
And I wanna reach the 45k words by next Saturday. With only one 2 hours meeting schedule, for writing a 500 words blog post (!), it will probably happen.
I’m not saying it’s gonna be easy, but since I have all that time (and no money, snif!), may as well use it.
Although, I have a ton of work to do in order for my first self-publish book coming out this June.
I am consuming tons of blog post and authortube video about it and dear oh dear, I’ve got a 31 one things to do, like keyword research, launch campaign, find a book cover designer.
Funny enough, none of those 31 things is: writing the book!
The full outline and characters are coming along in my brain, and I’ll start working on the rough outline this weekend… if I reach my word count goal that is!
For my main writing quest remains intact: be a traditionally published author.
That being said, let’s stop writing this post and go… write a novel.
Dear writer friends, thanks so much for reading. Happy writing everyone!
